Because volunteers work one-on-one with children, Reading Partners is required to conduct a thorough criminal background check before a volunteers’ service can begin. Each state and cities have different requirements for background checks. The specific steps to be cleared for your school site can be found in the orientation confirmation email you received from a Reading Partners staff member.
You can complete the background check process anytime before your first tutoring session, but cannot begin tutoring until this step is completed.
Please note: Reading Partners cannot process fingerprinting or background checks from other organizations that have your results on file.
