This is a recording of the Summer Engagement Series: Adopting a Growth Mindset that was held on Friday, July 19th, 2024. The facilitators are Latasha Buxton, National Community Engagement Associate, and Rita Tastad, National Community Engagement Manager. You can find the additional resources referenced in the training here.

The presentation was adapted from a presentation by the PERTS center in the Department of Psychology at Stanford University. PERTS stands for The Project for Education Research That Scales, and they are dedicated to providing educators with free, evidence-based tools and resources to promote student resilience and achievement.

In this webinar, we explore the power of “yet.” If you’ve ever found your student (or even yourself!) saying “I can’t” or wanting to give up, listen to this recording to learn some ideas for how to help turn things around. In this webinar, we discuss the difference between having a growth mindset and a fixed mindset, including the surprising impact of each on motivation and achievement. Most importantly, we cover ways we can shift our mindsets and model this shift for our students. You will leave this training better equipped to support your student’s learning journey—academically, socially, and emotionally.
